Case Study: Romanian-Cyprus Business Organization (ORCA)

What is ORCA?

Romanian-Cyprus Business Organization (ORCA) is a non-profit, apolitical, independent organization that promotes the economic and commercial interests of Cypriot investors in Romania, both locally and internationally. ORCA tries to bring into contact investors from Cyprus and Romania encouraging the networking between the tow countries.

Romania and Cyprus have realized that a strong economic potential exists between them, a good start for any kind of business, in front of a dangerous partner. The commercial exchanges between the two countries have been growing rapidly in the last years, and thus the need of a solid basis and of a common space for the bilateral exchanges has arisen. Cyprus is already a representative investor in Romania generating many jobs.

Approach

Sebastian Madalin, ORCA manager contacted us because he needed a visual identity that had to position his business high and to inspire professionalism, elegance and to be slightly “masonic”. Also, he wanted the complete service of design insertion on the materials: visit cards, map, flayers, booklets, in other words, the whole package. We were very content with this complex project because there was homogeneity and continuity between all the materials. Before setting to work, there were several meetings in order for us to understand the business and the way we had to approach visually this logo.

The Solution

</p> <p>Madalin mi-a parturisit ca a fost o alegere grea sa alega una din directii, deoarece toate propunerile i-au placut. Dupa mai multe intalniri intalniri si modificari alegerea aleasa a fost aceasta. Ne bucuram ca alegerea ORCA a fost aceasta deoarece si noi imbratisam aceasta propunere. Ne-am straduit sa gasim o solutie care din punct de vedere imagologic sa nu afie asociata cu ceva. De aceea toate propunerile au la baza o idee abstraccta pentru am incercat sa evitam alte semnificatii care sa se gaseasca in mentalul colectiv.</p> <p>Logo-ul ales se doreste o experinta placuta si de calitate, capabila sa armonizeze nevoile ambelor parti. Noua identiate ORCA transmite cu claritate si consistenta oferind o platforma de comunicare consistenta si eficienta intre cele 2 parti comune: Romania si Cipru (coloare portocaliu este luata de pe steagul Ciprului). Acum ORCA transmiete atractivitate, certitudine, diferentiere, la fel cu un produs „premium”.</p> <p><img class=

Madalin told me that it was very difficult for him to choose one of the directions because he liked all the propositions. After several meetings and changes, we chose this one. We are glad that ORCA has made this choice because we too embrace this proposition. We tried to find a solution that, from an imagologic point of view, isn’t associated with something else. Thus, all the propositions were based on an abstract idea in order to avoid other significance with which the mental collective was already familiar. The chosen logo aims to be a pleasant qualitative experience capable to harmonize the needs of both parts. ORCA’s new identity represents clearly and consistently an efficient platform of communication between two common parts: Romania and Cyprus (the color orange is borrowed from the Cypriot flag). Now ORCA expresses attractiveness, certitude, differentiation, just like a “premium” product.
